How does Botox work ? And what is it made of ?

Botox works by temporarily paralysing muscles, which helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

It is made from a neurotoxin called Botulinum Toxin, the toxin is combined with protective proteins to stabilise the molecule and diluted in a saline solution before injection.

When injected into specific muscles with a fine needle, Botox stops the release of Acetylcholine, which signals muscles to contract. Without this signal, the muscles relax.

This relaxation smooths the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles caused by facial expressions.

Botox is often used to reduce facial wrinkles, such as crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead lines.

The effects of Botox typically last for 3 to 6 months, after which the muscle action gradually returns, and wrinkles may reappear, requiring repeat treatments to maintain the results.
